On a postoestrous vaginal smear, leukocytes, keratinocytes, and epithelial cell nuclei are found, and on an anoestrous vaginal smear, there are large numbers of leukocytes, few epithelial cells, and myxocytes. Rats with short estrous cycles (about 3 days) were included in the following experiments.
