Parula warblers, Baltimore orioles, and Orchard orioles weave nests from the Spanish moss that festoons from the branches.
One of the most interesting birds of the year was a cerulean warbler/northern
parula hybrid discovered at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

Last year WBF treated more than 4,000 birds, including migrating rarities like a northern

Parula, Kingbird, Dollarbird etc.
Prairie, pine, yellowthroat, northern waterthrush, redstart and
parula warblers accompanied veery, catbirds and an unprecedented number of rose-breasted grosbeaks.
Higher in the upper canopy is where yellow-billed cuckoos are found, along with red-eyed vireos, rose-breasted grosbeak, summer and scarlet tanagers and an array of warblers northern
parula, pine, palm, and black and white.
The Northern
Parula (NOPA) is a high canopy feeder, and yet this species is very positively associated with RDA axis 1; however, this may be due to insufficient sampling, as the NOPA was detected only once.
RSPB Scotland officer John Bowler spotted the nothern
parula, which is smaller than a blue tit.
Elsewhere, two absolute "megas" turned up this week in the form of an alder flycatcher on Blakeney Point, Norfolk, and a superb northern
parula found on Tiree, Argyll.
