When I retired from active duty, I went full circle and taught elementary school
phys ed in Albuquerque, N.M.--absolute fun.
His biggest issue in life: trying to avoid the school-mandated contact sport component of his
phys ed class with notes from home or other teachers.

Before they make the big leap to junior high, they're treated to all sorts of graduation festivities, and one of the highlights is the Circus unit they participate in during
phys ed. For a few exciting weeks, the kids get to try their hands at activities such as juggling, stilt walking, and plate spinning, and the project culminates with the children putting on their own version of the Greatest Show on Earth.
Lerner and his district have responded with plenty of steps of their own, turning the conventional definition of
phys ed on its head.
