This slug, when disturbed, emits a very fine
purplish-red fluid, which stains the water for the space of a foot around.
The other, a very stout, buxom woman with a
purplish-red, blotchy face, excessively smartly dressed with a brooch on her bosom as big as a saucer, was standing on one side, apparently waiting for something.
The flowering dogwoods of the Eastern states have
purplish-red leaves.
costaricensis (
purplish-red dragon fruit), and Selenicereus megalanthus (yellow dragon fruit) (Hunt, 2006; Hamida et al., 2017).
When the rash is on the body it has slightly raised,
purplish-red, shiny spots with a flat surface.
The small but plentiful
purplish-red berries, together with curly willow branches spray-painted maroon and dried flower heads of Autumn Joy sedum, made a handsome combo that remained attractive throughout the winter.
The rather chewy octopus (tako) can be rubbery when uncooked so is typically boiled, turning the pale white tentacles a
purplish-red. Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) is naturally cooked, the not-too-thin slabs concealing layers of seasoned egg.
Red nails or red lunulae are rare, with the
purplish-red colour caused by hyperaemia of the nail bed.
Previously published case reports have described lesions as raised
purplish-red papules, which can be misdiagnosed as rosacea, eczema, and hematoma [36].
Gastroscopy revealed traces of dark red blood in the lower segment of the duodenum, and enteroscopy revealed a large,
purplish-red mass at the junction between the duodenum and jejunum [Figure 1].
