If the target is closer, the projectile's
radar return will become mixed with the reflected waves also produced from a target resulting in a failure to record.

Using the Doppler
radar return of the moving targets, GMTI radar shows moving vehicles as dots overlaid on a digital map and can do this even in bad weather or complete darkness.

radar return signals from aircraft targets, and on this basis puts forward a fuzzy-fractal-feature-based classification method so as to identify different types of aircraft targets in condition of no compensation for airframe echo components.
Modulations of the
radar return from arms, legs, and even body sway are being investigated by researchers [3-5].
To get the range of a
radar return, the operator would use a rotating knob to move the display until the echo was lined up under a vertical line etched in the center of the screen.
