The three fish species that we consider are blue cod (Parapercis colias),
red cod (Pseudophycis bachus), and snapper (Pagrus auratus).
There are still one or two
red cod in the weed beds, 2-3lb average, with crab essential.

The rock marks north of the Tyne to Berwick have given very little with the rarely-fished Scremerston marks giving a few decent
red cod.
Most of the 254lbs of fish taken - made up of 78
red cod, 16 wrasse, nine coalfish, two flatfish and two Pollock, best 4-14-12 taken by Steve Coverdale - came from the marks between Amble and Seahouses.
Even though the match was fished in bright sunlight and calm conditions, the big tides let anglers get among the fish with an impressive 203lb of mainly
red cod being weighed in.
Ian Greenacre fished at Craster and took a fine
red cod of 6lb 4oz.
Paul Robinson, of Crimdon, took the heaviest fish ( a cod of 7-13-4 in his second placed bag of 10-9-4 from Lynemouth and The Round Rocks at Collywell gave Stephen Atkinson of Seaton Sluice two lovely
red cod for 10-7-12, including second heaviest at 6-8-6.
