The new Yokogawa AQ1210 optical-time domain
reflectometer (OTDR) has been re-engineered to bring the features and user-friendly operation of the AQ7280 flagship OTDR to installers and testers of passive optical networks and fibre to the antenna.
Using proprietary Optical Time Domain
Reflectometer (OTDR) technology, Oman Broadband's Concern Team can monitor and test multiple fibers and identify, within a meter of accuracy, where a break in service occurred, reducing mean time to repair by 70%.
The presentation also discussed potential parameterized approaches for inclusion in signature models and a comparison to measurements from the SOC-210 BDR Bidirectional
Reflectometer. The SOC-210 BDR Bidirectional
Reflectometer is a precision laboratory instrument designed for mapping bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDF) of surfaces, paints, coatings, liquids, and particles.
He called particular attention to the company's 1-port VNA (cable and antenna analyzer) line (Figure 2), including the R60 1-MHz to 6-GHz vector
reflectometer. "Our products have a patent (US Patent 9,291,657) that allows the VNAs to connect directly to a DUT without the need for cables," he said.
This resource includes the latest technological advancements and industry applications while covering the entire fiber ecosystem from installation to troubleshooting including the use of common tools like LPM (laser source and power meter) to overcome common issues related to optical patching and fiber plants and also discusses the use of specialized tools including the optical time domain
reflectometer (OTDR) for issues with fiber plants and locating fiber breaks.
Yokogawa is adding an entry-level model, the AQ1000, to its range of OTDR (optical time-domain
reflectometer) test instruments.
"Even after it has been established that Tier-2 certification is needed, installers do not always know how to thoroughly interpret the traces from the OTDR (optical time domain
reflectometer)," explains Dan Payerle, Global Product Manager--Data Cable Testers, for IDEAL Networks.
The OTDR II (Optical Time Domain
Reflectometer) excels in fault finding on fiber cabling with industry-leading specifications and performance levels on both single-mode and multimode fiber networks.
