Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma was the most frequently observed variant (DLBCL, 60%) with frequency of bone marrow infiltration being 47.6%, followed by follicular (22.9%) with 50% bone marrow infiltration and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL, 14.3%) with 60% bone marrow infiltration.
Evidence of an association with TCE exposure was strongest for follicular lymphoma (e.g., for average weekly exposure > 150 estimated ppm-hr/week: OR = 3.7; 95% CI, 1.2-11.7; p-value for trend = 0.005), although the numbers of exposed cases for each subtype were small (e.g., cases with average weekly exposure > 150 estimated ppm-hr/week: diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, 9; follicular lymphoma, 6; small lymphocytic lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, 4).
The most common histological finding in prostatic lymphoma is Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, but primary prostatic small lymphocytic lymphoma, follicular lymphomas, Burkit lymphomas, MALT lymphomas, and mantle cell lymphomas have also been reported.
Reductions in lymph node and spleen size, as well as in circulating leukemia cells, were seen in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL).
Although not 100% discriminating (1), expression of CD5 and lack of CD10 help to distinguish MCL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/ small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) from other B-cell lymphoproliferative diseases, whereas differential CD23 and FMC7 expression help to distinguish MCL from CLL/SLL.
BeiGene announced results from an ongoing Phase 1b clinical study of its investigational BTK inhibitor zanubrutinib in combination with Gazyva in patients with relapsed/refractory or treatment naive chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma, and patients with R/R follicular lymphoma.
CLL is regarded as small lymphocytic lymphoma when lymph nodes are involved but the blood film and, in particular, the white blood cell count is normal.
