More than 700 inspiring local people, both young and old, took part in more than 20 clean ups as schools, community groups, businesses and volunteers donned their bibs and set out with their litter picker to
tidy up their neighbourhoods.
"I was really proud to see everyone come together and help
tidy up Coventry city centre and its surrounding areas," said John.
The sessions will run weekly every Monday between 10am and 12pm (except bank holidays) and '
Tidy Up and Plant' community events will be organised during the school holidays, focusing on litter picks, planting pots to take home or planting up hanging baskets.
"We have taken part in the Big
Tidy Up before but this is the first time that so many of our younger pupils have had the opportunity to venture beyond the school grounds and into the neighbouring areas."
Newsome's ward councillors took to the streets to
tidy up the area around Barcroft Road and Bluebell Woods.
The 46th 'Pick 'n' Pint' patrol will do its best to
tidy up the Lowndes Road area of Wollaston.

Richard Green, from Birmingham City Council, said: "It is hoped this challenge will encourage more residents to take pride in their properties and to show them the difference a bit of a

After BusinessLiverpool's report last year, owners of the city's shabbiest locations were contacted and urged to
tidy up their properties.
But every Wednesday they've been heading out with their litter pickers and hi-vis vests to
tidy up parts of Kirklandneuk where they've been based.

South Tyneside Council and South Tyneside Homes are supporting the campaign, which is being delivered by Keep Britain Tidy, by urging local people, groups and businesses to take the opportunity to help to
tidy up their local area.
