Lane et al (24) published a case report of a geriatric woman who presented with a generalized
tonic-clonic seizure related to rapid titration of risperidone; however, with slower titration and lower doses, she stopped having seizures without adding any antiepileptic drugs.
In a
tonic-clonic seizure, the first, very short phase is the tonic.
Over 3,000 Americans die each year from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy and the Embrace offers the potential to alarm family members and caretakers a
tonic-clonic seizure is occurring.
We used PTZ (100 mg/kg) for the induction of clonic and
tonic-clonic seizure in mice.
In the psychiatry ward, six hours after presentation to the ED (thus approximately 28 hours after overdose), the patient experienced a generalized
tonic-clonic seizure that was witnessed by a nurse, lasting 30 seconds and resolving spontaneously.
A
tonic-clonic seizure abruptly occurred without either hypertension or proteinuria 5 days after delivery; her blood pressure at the first seizure was 113/78 mmHg, and that at the second seizure was 109/72mmHg (Figure 2).
The results further indicate high mean score of patients with generalized
tonic-clonic seizure (M= 51.3) on trait anxiety as compared to patients with complex partial seizures (M= 45.4), simple partial seizures (M= 46.0), absence seizure (M= 45.9) and unknown/ unclassified group (M= 47.6).
The 46-year-old suffered the
tonic-clonic seizure - once known as a "grand mal".
During his hospitalization period, one of his sisters developed generalized
tonic-clonic seizure. Blood glucose level measured was 32 mg/dL with a simultaneous insulin level of 28.8 mIU/mL and C-peptide of 2.8 ng/mL.
In this study involving mapping of ictal network dynamics in a preclinical model of generalized
tonic-clonic seizure, we highlight two pertinent findings that are of translational importance while designing a closed-loop neuromodulation.
