transition altitude

The altitude at or below which the vertical position of an aircraft is controlled by reference to true altitude.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday announced that, following a request from UK air traffic service provider NATS, it has approved changes to the Transition Altitude beneath the Worthing and Clacton Control Areas (CTAs) to the east and south of London.
