Viewers that experience abnormalities in color vision can be classified as exhibiting anomalous
trichromacy (all three color pigments are present, but one of them is anomalous), dichromacy (only two of the pigments are present), and monochromacy (a single pigment or none at all; the rarest of the three)[9].
We observed normal
trichromacy (NT) in 14 (73.7%) eyes and pseudoprotanomaly (PPT) in 5 (26.3%) eyes.
While most of the insects which have been studied can be generally described as having an ultraviolet (UV)-blue-green
trichromacy, there are several different pigments and configurations which insects may have within their compound eye (Briscoe & Chittka 2001; Koshitaka et al.
For example, jumping spiders in the genus Habronattus have evolved a retinal filter in the AM eyes that increases their spectral sensitivities from UV-green dichromacy to UV-green-red
trichromacy (Zurek et al., 2015).
There are three types of inherited CVD: monochromacy, dichromacy and anomalous
trichromacy. Monochromacy, being so rare, is the total absence of colour vision and occurs when two or all three of the cone pigments are missing.
Further, the observer perceives color in terms of three color signals based on the
trichromacy theory can be modeled by:
The dimensionality of color vision in carriers of anomalous
trichromacy. J Vis 2010;10(8):12.
Trichromacy, in accordance with the Young-Helmholtz theory, is present at the receptor level and opponent processing, as proposed by Hering, is established in the inner retina.

Anomalous
trichromacy (all three color cones are present, but the signals are transmitted to the brain abnormally).
There are also a number of misunderstandings in their application of
trichromacy. Our re-analysis leads to conclusion that their data raises very interesting questions regarding brightness constancy and color effects, but does not support most of their claims regarding
trichromacy.
234) states that "
trichromacy originally evolved for picking out the most nutritious leaves." I teach high school students to avoid this kind of statement in regard to evolution.
