Antislavery sentiment would not necessarily have
prevented someone from owning or hiring slaves, but would have made it
less likely than if the individual had been completely acceptant of
slavery. The comparison group perceived less of a need for
this, and were more acceptant of a passive, less physical approach to
learning. Male students reported significantly
more conservative attitudes regarding gender than did female students,
were more acceptant of interpersonal violence and rape myths, and
employed stronger adversarial beliefs and feelings of hostility. |
