1. also ac·cept·er One who signs a time draft or bill of exchange.
2. Chemistry
a. The reactant in an induced reaction that has an increased rate of reaction in the presence of the inductor.
b. An atom, molecule, or ion that combines with another atom, molecule, or ion, especially an atom that receives two electrons to form a chemical bond with another atom.

1. The reactant in an induced chemical reaction that has an increased rate of reaction in the presence of the inductor.
2. An atom or molecule that receives one or more electrons from another atom or molecule, resulting in a chemical bond or flow of electric current. Compare donor. See also electron carrier.
