When Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue put snowboarding clothes in their store windows a few weeks ago, it was a clear sign that serious activewear had entered the mainstream.
Today, retailers like lucy activewear, a Portland-based company that specializes in flattering, functional and stylish activewear for women, are donating proceeds from clothing sales to a variety of local and national charities, a practice which plays an unexpectedly large part in women's purchasing decisions.
In the activewear business, we are seeing prices stabilize and freight promotions decline, and have focused our marketing strategies to drive sales of higher margin goods.
