air liaison officer

The senior tactical air control party member attached to a ground unit who functions as the primary advisor to the ground commander on air power. An air liaison officer is usually an aeronautically rated officer. Also called ALO. See also liaison.

In his organization, the corps air liaison officer (ALO), essentially, served as the deputy effects coordinator (DECOORD).
Air Force); the fighter duty NCO, or FDNCO (USAF); the current targets officer (British Royal Air Force); the air liaison officer, or ALO (USAF); the air liaison officer (Australian Royal Air Force); the 410th AEW liaison officer (USAF); the gunship liaison officer (USAF SOF); and the tactical air control party, or TACP, NCO (USAF).
Subsequently, Brigadier General Jensen was assigned to HMH-461 as the Intelligence Officer for an amphibious deployment to Norway, and upon return received orders to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Air Liaison Officer and H & S Company Commander.
