A state of aircraft readiness wherein combat-equipped aircraft are airborne and ready for immediate action. See also fighter cover. operations, army aviation should be assigned a zone (zones) where attack
helicopters would perform airborne alert duty, independent sweep (roving
patrol) area (areas), ground alert duty strip (strips), and ambush
strips. When a request is received it is imperative that the aircraft
quickly respond from either an airborne alert or strip alert status. |
