The plane was donated to the EAA Aviation Foundation in 1981 under the provision it be maintained in airworthy condition.
“Anyone that dispenses substances [from a plane] must hold a private or commercial agricultural aircraft operator certificate, hold at least a commercial or airline transport pilot certificate and use a certificated and airworthy aircraft equipped for agricultural operation,” says Bob O’Haver, operations specialist with the FAA.
This involves investment, but the Management Company handles all other functions from supplying pilots, to assuring the aircraft is continually airworthy.
