Am·bon  (ämbôn) also Am·boi·na (m-boin)
A town of eastern Indonesia on the island of Ambon in the Moluccas near Ceram. Settled by the Portuguese in the 16th century, it was also the site of an English settlement that was destroyed by the Dutch in 1623.
