This is true with angle plates, trunion fixtures, indexing heads, vises, and air chucks, all of which are changed frequently.
Twenty-three patients admitted to our level I trauma center between November 1998 and October 2000 treated with a lateral fixed angle plate (Less-Invasive Stabilization System [LISS] plate, Synthes, Paoli, PA) for either a bicondylar tibial plateau fracture (41C) (n = 12) or a comminuted proximal tibial metaphyseal fracture (41A) (n = 11) were identified from our orthopaedic trauma database.
Exact adjustment of the shear angle is made possible with the use of shear angle plates.
