A`nor´tho`clase
n.1.(Min.) A feldspar closely related to orthoclase, but triclinic. It is chiefly a silicate of sodium, potassium, and aluminium. Sp. gr., 2.57 - 2.60.

anorthoclase  (n-ôrth-kls)
A white to colorless triclinic mineral of the alkali feldspar group. It is a common constituent in the matrices of slightly alkaline volcanic rocks. Chemical formula: (Na,K)AlSi3O8.

Anil points out that "Webster's 2nd defines pilandite as 'a leucocratic porphyry with phenocrysts, a groundmass of anorthoclase, and a little amphibole" and adds "Well at least I know what 'a', 'with', 'of', 'and', and 'little' mean.
