Byline: ANI Washington, Aug 26 (ANI): Texas and Brazilian researchers have confirmed the complete asexuality of a widespread fungus-gardening ant-called Mycocepurus smithii- the only ant species in the world known to have dispensed with males entirely.
Asexuality has its success stories: Japanese knotweed plants in Britain, continental Europe and the United States are all clones of a single plant.
Prause and Graham (2007) recruited 41 self-identified "asexuals," some from a Web site dedicated to asexuality and some from the Kinsey Institute's Web site, and compared them to a "non-asexual" comparison group of 1,105 men and women.
