Crowned by a roof of ETFE pillows supported on a cross-vaulted steel structure, the galleria sets up an axial route through the building, perforating its bulk and connecting the waterfront with adjacent new hotels and beyond that the city centre, at present being energetically transformed by the Paradise Street project (p64).
The house that was to be demolished to open up the axial route remains intact today, and as such the college has had to make do with a number of interim solutions.
The spaces it defines are pinned and connected by a long axial route that runs westward from the main entrance and garage through the double-height space, past a comparatively conventional terrace (which is defined to the west by the glazed wall of the poolside kitchen/dining room) and ending with the bedroom in the south-west corner of the site.
