Common varieties are prickly pear and barrel cactus, both of which produce small fruits that grow on the tops during various parts of the season, ranging in color from green to purple and red.
You might also spy the wavy spires of the Ocotillo, topped by red blossoms growing skyward, or the fat and stout Barrel Cactus producing small yellow blooms close to the desert floor.
Such plants include weeping yucca, juniper, barrel cactus and rosemary.
