Byline: By BRENDA HICKMAN and LISA HUTCHINSON POLICE fired baton rounds at a suspected gunman after mistaking his cigarette lighter for a firearm.
A DRUNK involved in an armed siege in which police fired baton rounds for the first time in Scotland was jailed for more than three years yesterday.
The force is also investigating the use of a multiple-shot launcher for baton rounds, so-called plastic bullets, as part of an arsenal of "non-lethal weapons" for use in emergencies.
