Tea contains caffeine, but the body reacts to it differently from coffee because of L-theanine, an amino acid in tea that he says promotes ``focused, meditative energy'' in the brain's alpha waves to counteract the fight-or-flight beta wave response to the caffeine. In addition, brainwaves of participants shifted from the more usual waking beta wave state to either alpha-theta or theta wave states; these latter states have been shown to be characteristic of deep meditation. The results of the beta wave of six waves of research identified a trust gap, around which the PLI developed a campaign to help consumers feel more comfortable in today's information economy. |
