In the Ketogenesis process, incomplete fat oxidation stimulates the liver to convert acetyl CoA into Ketone bodies, Acetoacetic Acid, beta-hydroxybutyric acid and acetone.
This test reacts with acetoacetic acid only, not beta-hydroxybutyric acid or acetone.
