| Babies exposed in the first trimester of their mother's pregnancy to blood pressure drugs called ACE inhibitors are at an increased risk of birth defects, according to a new study. A recent study tried replacing saturated fat with either protein (2/3 plant protein and 1/3 animal protein), carbohydrate, or monounsaturated fat (canola and olive oil, nuts and seeds) and then determining the effect of this on blood pressure and LDL (bad) cholesterol. To understand this better, we tested the strength of the association in children with elevated blood lead concentrations and whether succimer chelation changed blood pressure as it did blood lead. |
