VALENCIA - It was cops versus cops on the ice in five games of broomball, all to raise money and awareness for the city's Blue Ribbon Youth Memorial.
A men's hockey league and a co-ed broomball league serve adult patrons of the park district, while children can participate in "The Wolfpack" in-house hockey league, a program with a "Junior Wolves" curriculum for 9- and 10-year-olds, and a "Pups" curriculum for children aged 5 to 8 years old.
The two rinks will offer an estimated 12,000 hours of ice time per year for use by youth, high school and college hockey teams, figure skating, synchronized skating, recreational skating, learn-to-skate programs and broomball.
