THE recent talk of the Welsh Assembly Government going it alone and imposing a carrier bag tax shows once again how far removed politicians are from the voting public.
A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said: "Over the past two years, we have been working with customers to drive down carrier bag usage and, as a result, the environmental impact of our carrier bags has been reduced by 63%.
Summary: Supermarkets are handing out 346 million fewer plastic carrier bags every month than three years ago.
