A histopathologic image of the excised lymph nodes showed caseating granulomas, and tuberculous lymphadenitis was suggested (Figure).
The second specimen exhibited features of a typical tuberculous lymphadenitis, including areas of tuberculous granulation tissue with full-blown caseating epithelioid cell granulomas, Langerhans' giant ceils, and lymphocytic infiltrates.
Third, histologic examination demonstrated a caseating granulomatous process with accompanying endarteritis, consistent with mycobacterial infection.
