The Caserne was built in 1946 after its previous location was destroyed in the early days of World War II. The incident of the now famous Patton Prayer commenced with a telephone call to the Third Army Chaplain on the morning of December 8, 1944, when the Third Army Headquarters were located in the Caserne Molifor, in Nancy, France: "This is General Patton; do you have a good prayer for weather?
