This scale, known as the centigrade scale became widely spread.
The Celsius scale or centigrade scale identified by Anders in 1742 divided the freezing and boiling points of water into 100 degrees, establishing the boiling point of water to be 0 degrees and the freezing point of water to be 100 degrees (Bellis, 2005).
I have been brainwashed with the Centigrade scale for most of my adult life, but 99 degrees Fahrenheit still makes me feel like taking my clothes off in a way that the equivalent Centigrade temperature never will.
