The trilobed structure of the brain, lying posterior to the pons and medulla oblongata and inferior to the occipital lobes of the cerebral hemispheres, that is responsible for the regulation and coordination of complex voluntary muscular movement as well as the maintenance of posture and balance.

The part of the vertebrate brain that is located below the cerebrum at the rear of the skull and that coordinates balance and muscle activity. In mammals, the cerebellum is made up of two connecting hemispheres that consist of a core of white matter surrounded by gray matter.

In other brain studies, Giedd has found smaller cerebellums in kids with ADHD than in their ADHD-free peers.
While trying to do both tasks, scans showed the subjects' cerebellums stayed cold and their performances didn't improve.
In the initial scan, the children with ADHD were shown to have smaller cerebrums, the area of the brain that controls mental processing, and cerebellums, which control voluntary muscle activity in the body.
