In a repeat of events in March, when false rumours of an emergency loan from the Bank of England set off a collapse in the share price of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS), HBOS's shares appear to have been the victim of a short-selling spree by chancers who would happily reduce the banking system to chaos for a quick profit. If these guys cannot consistently pick winners when it is their job, how on earth will the chancers who have thrown together a website and claim dubiously to know trainers, owners, stable hands and bookmakers. Cheerfully describing themselves as a band of ruffians, Gnawa Diffusion are, as the abrasive naming of this album suggests, a bunch of musical chancers that have spent the past 15 years making a most glorious rumpus. |
