Related to chopping block: butcher block
A wooden block on which food or wood is chopped.
a block of wood on which meat, vegetables, and the like are trimmed, chopped, etc.
A block of wood, usually just a short section of a log, used to lay small logs or poles across as they were being chopped into firewood. The chopping block provided support and kept the timber from flexing as it was hit by the ax. The block also kept the ax from hitting the ground and being dulled.
