Cluster headaches usually affect men, involve severe pain around one eye, may last one to two hours, and can recur over months.
The differential diagnosis includes sphenopalatine neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, midfacial segment pain, cluster headache, and atypical migraine.
Cluster headache attacks are unique in that they usually last from 15 minutes to three hours and can occur more than once a day.
