As for the banter, it's less Bringing Up Baby and more Gilmore Girls--not a bad thing per se, but one that brings to mind a Graham more adept at verbal curlicues than this one.
Also helictites -- curlicues of calcite that twist this way and that, rather than suspending straight down.
Best known for Spiral Jetty, a monumental curlicue of basalt extending into Utah's Great Salt Lake, Smithson was a radical who enjoyed musing on nature and the cosmos.
