It was enacted a year ago, but officially it started this year in the spirit of giving everyone involved with high school sports a well-deserved break before many sports will hold team camps, which precede daily doubles that begin on the legal start date, which precede seasons that run through November.
A Daily Double bet is when one selects the horses that will win the first two races and that the wager should be made even before the first race starts.
The winner was backed from 5-1 down to 11-4 and was clear in the final furlong, scoring by three lengths from Daily Double.
