Yet attempts to decentre "Western" conceptions of modernity and to posit multiple, alternative modernities are by now well established even in existing social science work on Malaysia.
For those of us with a social justice bent, deconstruction encourages us to decentre so that social justice comes into view as just one discourse and possible strategy among others.
