Of the three most frequent types of internal damage (voids, delaminations and cracks), two--voids and delaminations--can form during the manufacturing process.
Packaging failures can result in a number of issues, which include * discolouration of tablets * degeneration of tablets/capsules * product contamination, particularly from species associated with the packaging material * product leaching * packaging delaminations and/or disbondments.
Some delaminations occur because one side is too rough or too smooth for bonding to occur and this can be determined with 3DP analysis.
