The following is a dialogical response to some of the challenges raised by Professor Scherer.
While some might see this as a prescription for 'teaching environmental studies theologically', the dialogical and humanistic hermeneutic of John Paul II would provide equally for its inverse, namely, 'teaching theology environmentally'.
