I escaped to help in London during the doodlebug and rocket raids in the 1940s.
I feel sure the Doodlebug we saw was one of the first to crash on Britain - and the fact it was intact was probably a bonus.
in the same way, and from the same distance, you might stand back and admire the unexploded doodlebug you have just dug out of your rosebed.
