Drilling mud, used to keep the drill bit cool, was spilled early Tuesday on K Street at Mono Street, Kern County road officials said.
Wastes included petroleum-related chemicals, solvents, sludge, construction debris and drilling mud.
Designed to operate "in reverse", or rather, to cause shaft rotation by the supplied differential pressure, such motors are referred to as Mudmotors, referring to drilling mud that provides a hydraulic medium to drive the rotor, lubricate the drill bit and remove the debris.
