The findings are mostly evidence of theropods (upright carnivores) with footprints of theropod prey, hadrosaurs or duck-billed dinosaurs. The sizes and shapes of crystals from the fossil teeth suggest that the ceratopsian dinosaurs, relatives of Triceratops, may have eaten a high proportion of tough-leafed cycads, whereas the hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs, probably favored ferns. The cry of a duck-billed dinosaur reverberated for the first time in more than 70 million years Friday - a low-pitched, trombone wail that listeners felt as much as they heard. |
