Obejas is glad La Cueva has enjoyed a sea change in tolerance and community support while maintaining its edginess and unique character. It represents an amazing trajectory forward from the early houses and restaurants that played a dangerous (but frequently elegant) game of 'dare', between an extreme consciousness of material and patina against extreme edginess of placement. We like vibrant color and edginess, not come-hither vixens from comic book lore. |
