The patented drum creates electrostatic charge for just a few seconds to hold the film firmly in place while it's being cut. Both the original PCC particles and the ashes were characterized in terms of size, density, surface area, porosity, chemical composition, color and electrostatic charge. Developed by USDA-Agricultural Research Service engineer Bailey Mitchell, the system uses an electrostatic charge to trap airborne particles and microbes. |
