Tokyo, Japan, Jan 25, 2006 - (JCN) - Kao, a leading Japanese cosmetics and toiletries manufacturer, announced on January 24 that its Biological Science Research Laboratories have elucidated the mechanism of skin flecks by quantitatively analyzing endothelin and stem cell factor (SCF), a substance involved in melanocyte development. Various vasoconstrictor mechanisms have been demonstrated, including the release of endothelins (Bouthillier et al. TracleerTM, the first orally available dual endothelin receptor antagonist, is already approved and available in major markets worldwide for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a chronic life-threatening condition that severely compromises the function of the lungs and heart. |
