There is an unevenness in the appendices of bibliography with the materials compiled by Suzanne Abram on Greek and Roman epistolography comprising about half of all the primary and secondary works listed.
Luther Stirewalt's expertise in ancient epistolography has produced the excellent book Paul, the Letter Writer (Eerdmans, $22).
To sum up, while Hintz's Audience of One provides interesting insights and information, she might have contributed more to bringing Osborne's letters into the mainstream by engaging the growing body of scholarship on the interlocking themes of epistolography, life-writing, and gender in early modern Europe.
