It used to be that 14-year-old girls could still play with dolls, and 14-year-old boys would still get Erector Sets as gifts.
In the second story, "Ship of Stone," the locals of Trehoet, a town targeted by unscrupulous developers, disassemble their village like a giant erector set with the help of the local warlock, and set sail in a hijacked warship for South America with the warlock's castle leading the way.
It's like playing with God's own Erector set, only the directions make less and less sense the farther you delve into the reconstruction process, and you discover that you've been given the keys to the Tower of Babel.
